Bermuda Grass (Sprig)
New Green Construction

Texas State Technical College (TSTC), located in Waco, Texas constructed a new green at their campus golf course in 1997 to test the emergence impacts of using ZeoProTM in the root mix.  The 4000 square foot green was divided into 4 zones and ZeoProTM was added to the top 4 inches of a 14 inch silica sand root zone at 0%, 5%, 10% and 20% by volume in respective zones.  Fertilization, irrigation and all maintenance practices were identical for all 4 zones.

The zones were sprigged with 15 bushels of Floradwarf bermuda grass per 1000 square feet on July 2, 1997.  Nitrogen was applied at a rate of 1.5 lbs/1000 sqft per week.  The 20% ZeoPro amended zone had complete coverage in 6 weeks.  The 5% and 10 % ZeoPro zones had complete coverage in 7 weeks.  The control was not fully established in 9 weeks even though fertilization was increased to that zone at 6 weeks.  The photographs above were taken on day 48 and show clockwise from the top left the control, the 5%, 10% and 20 plots.
